there is no free multi-security package avalible for download, but if you go to http://esd.element5.com/demoreg.html?productid=300042690&languageid=1,you will find a 6 month evaluation of f-secure
This program has a dedicated virus scanner, capable of detecting and cleaning all known virus,s(including trojans, worms, ect)
it also has a built in spyware scanner, and has built in spyware detection,it will let you know if you are being attacked by malware and you can then take action
fsecure have the best updates you can get(from viruses being detected the defenitions are downloaded to fsecure scanners quicker than any other program(norton, mcafee)
one good thing about fsecure is the internet explorer sheild, which sits in the i.e toolbar, and you can lock or unlock it depending what you need to download
fsecure also has a scanner for "rootkits",these are programs that hide very deep within your operating system, and are very hard to identify
i recommend f\secure to anyone as it has a great detection rate and dosent drain system memory like others
good luck

You have to use at least 2 softwares so that you can be absolutely be sure that your computer is not infected at all. The two softwares are :-

1. Anti Virus Software - An anti virus software is a must for a computer connected to the net. Though most of the Anti Virus softwares can detect not only viruses, but also spywares, malware, Trojan horses, etc. But they should definitely be used as a defence against Viruses & Trojan Horses. If you are a Windows XP user then you can get some great offers on the leading international AntiVirus Solutions. Just log on to this website http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/

2. Use an antispyware software, because AntiVirus softwares are sometimes not able to detect new threats in the fiels of spyware. You can download the world's best and No. 1 antispyware Ad-Aware SE software, more to it is that it ois free of cost. Try it out at http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Most good anti-virus programs can remove all of these - adware/spyware, viruses and Trojans. However, an universal thing is *always* worse than a specialized one for any particular task. If you rely only on an universal program, it is much more likely that it will miss or will be unable to remove something. So, it is always better to use 3 different programs for protection - anti-virus (handles mostly viruses and some Trojans), anti-spyware (handles adware/spyware Trojans) and a personal firewall (if something does manage to get past the other two, a PF will raise a warning if it tries to communicate back to the attacker's computer).

Since the questions you have asked is similar to a lot that appear on answers, I have prepared this to aid you. Topics covered are: Anti virus, Anti spy ware, Browsers, e-mail, Word processors, Database, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Drawings and Photo manipulations. All programmes described are free to use, some even for commercial use.

Antiviral.

AVG free. Excellent protection available from: http://www.Grisoft.com

Don't use two antiviral products together as they may be incompatible. If your Antiviral trial has run out, then remove product from your computer and get the AVG installed.

Anti-spyware

Essential products are: Adaware SE from: http://www.lavasoft.com

Spybot SD http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

Spywareblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Windows Defender - from Microsoft downloads.

Office Applications

Open Office has an extremely good free to use and distribute product at http://www.openoffice.org

It contains programmes fully functional in Word-processing, Database, Spreadsheets, Drawing and Presentation. It looks and feels like Microsoft Office and can even make PDF's

Photo-manipulations

For ease of use and management of your photo files try Kodak easyshare software http://www.kodak.com

or Picasso. http://.picasa.google.com/

For advanced and fully functional photographic manipulation gimp2 is very similar to Photoshop and is available from http://gimp.org

Browsers and E-mail programmes.

Can recommend Firefox for browsing and has many safety features installed and is self updating and for a general e-mail programme, Thunderbird is very good. Go to:

http://www.mozilla.com/products/

Fun and helpful programmes

Have a look at Calendar Magic, http://www.stokepoges.plus.com/calendar.htm

it has lots of Scientific, Geometry, Factor and Expression calculators as well as Global distances, Sun and Moon Data, a Pregnancy Calculator, Time Data and Alarm clocks as well as an extremely comprehensive range of Calendars in about 27 different formats from Afghanistan to Vietnamese, including Chinese and Hindu.

C Cleaner.http://www.ccleaner.com/

This will tell you a lot about what is on your computer, such as running programmes, cookies, History, settings etc. and will help you clean up and remove unwanted items. Be careful how you use it as it is a very powerful programme and you should read the help index before you do anything with it.

Hope this information is of help to you and others.

If your operating system is Windows and not a Mac or Linux operating system, you could get Windows Defender, this is a good one I used it.

Just type into Google "Windows Defender" or "Windows Anti Spyware" and you will get some links, you will be able to find programs that are antivirus and everything else you need on Windows and Microsoft websites too. But try windows defender it's good. Delete your cookies and temporary internet files too.

try spybot for spyware even yahoo's toolbar with popup blocker and anti apyware is quite gud.
Anti Virus options are aplenty.. but am afraid they are not free.
You can get a free scan on http://housecall.antivirus.com it might remove some viruses but would let you know if any virus is found and not removed. Then its upto you which antivirus software you would like to go for... Norton,Trend etc.. plenty of choices.

AVG it's free. someone's probably given the link already, if not then search AVG free and you'll find it.
It runs in the background and picks up viruses all by itself, but it's best to scan every now and again too, sometimes a pop up will say virus found, click heal and it'll be fine.

Always better to have all three different progs, works more better than the all-in-one's. Just my opinion.

Zonelabs has a "ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite" tryout the trial version.

The main thing you can do is stop using Internet Explorer and use Mozilla instead.
Then use Ad-aware and SpyBot Search and Destroy regularly.

AVG Anti-Virus by GriSoft is great and it's FREE! You get updates for it too. Available via free download. Search Grisoft on yahoo. When you get to their site, I think it's on the third page, you have to look to find it.
