Depends. Did it have a card saying this was for you to love and cherish? If so, the giver is a pervert. Hopefully you are too. Enjoy your cucumber.

i would say, as an english literature student that the symbol operates on a number of different levels. First of all, one has to consider the organic quality of the cucumber. This suggests life, fecundity. Secondly, one has to consider the shape of the cucumber. It is clearly phallic. Therefore, I would suggest that the giving of the cucumber is a symbolic castration. This would depend on the assumption that a man gave you the cucumber. If however, a woman gave you it, this could reveal different qualities. It could be that she is trying to tell you that she can freely dispense with the phallic object, while you cannot? In any case, outside of the literary realm, I would say that someone probably gave you it as a joke.

Its a gift , so if you like the person who gave you accept and eat it. The meaning of giving only cucumber to you - only the giver can explain what was his idea behind it. May be its a simple act which he/she might not have any thoughts behind it or it might have significance - only the giver can explain it to you.

Did you check it for batteries ?.... seriously.... how was the gift received , what was the gender of the person that gave it to you , do they have a garden ? I've been given tons of vegetables from friends who don't know what to do with all of what they've grown , that's about the only "normal" reason I can see for giving some one a piece of produce as a gift (unless it comes in a basket of course ).
