I have a deep love for the people of the former Soviet Union.
Older ones survived many wars and lost many Friends and family members. They survived Communism, loss of privileges, loss of freedom, loss of religion... Many endured years of near starvation, over crowding, lack of heat/electricity/water. And then there is the jails and work camps that many endured especially if they spoke out against anything aforementioned...
The younger ones have come thru the fall of Communism, then it trying to be reinstated and again fall. Western influences and new freedoms have confused many especially since Christian based morals have become depleted in their society. Lack of material things and necessities have pushed many into the sex trade, drug trade, and the Red Mafia. Lack of adequate education means many will be destined for hard work and low (actually next to nothing) pay...
What will happen for the next generation... those yet born? Likely not much better if not worse than the parents. The economy is in dismal condition. Many will be born with diseases because of their parents' lifestyle. Lack of health-care exasperates the problems. And most of the aforementioned problems is ongoing so the children don't get any better a home, a life then their parents...

Russians are the same as any other nationality. They have good and bad. I live in a town with a fairly large Russian population, and have met good and bad Russians. I'm not prejudiced when I meet them though.

Initially all people are carrying the outside their country has put on them! And Russia's is heavy!
Eventually, after some discussion (vodka is not necessary but somehow helps) people are expressing themselves and Russians are, as all people good! Russian, furthermore, are educated and friendly, very friendly!
Also, they are nice people, in general, being a man, I find Russian girls really beautiful, smart, outgoing and friendly!

Never, these poor people they went through hell inflicted by their own government, 20000000 died in the second world war just by starvation. These people were led to believe by means of propaganda that they had to even eat their own children (look at your own media,Government statements) The Russian people are probably one of the most persecuted peoples on the planet. But what do you see on the TV, Oprah spending $60000 on a toilet seat. So don't look at these people with suspicion, they only now coming to terms with capitalism and if you look at it, you to are controlled by the money you have in your wallet and scared of going to jail or worst still losing everything you have worked hard for, or the future of your children. I think the world was a safer place to live when Russia was a super power.

Only people I am prejudiced towards are the Governments of all the countries. That is where all of our problems lie. Not with the people of each country but by the actions of the Governments.

I don't think I've ever met a Russian, but I try to let people prove themselves rather than rely on stereotypes.
