Shameful officiating yet again determines a World Cup match, this time in a penalty kick in the Australia-Italy match. The Australian defender established position within the penalty box, but Italy is awarded a penalty after the attacker trips and falls over the defender. Earlier in the match, Materazzi wrongly received a red card on what should have been called a yellow card.

I know man, IO totally agree. I used to respect Italy, they were my fav. team but after such a thing, you gotta admit, it would be shameful to ever support them!

The socceroos were clearly dominating, Italy was under pressure and what did they do? They CHEATED! Shamefully CHEATED!

I was dumbstruck, there was my fav. team, versing the team representing the country that I live in, and Italy cheats? I could not bear it!

SHAME ON YOU ITALY! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME !!!!!

As long as refrees take the side of teams with star players, no small football nation is going to win. The referees are blind in this world cup. It was clearly a dive by the italian. A premeditated dive. Although Italy may have the skills to win an oscar award for acting dives, Italy doesnt have the class to win this world cup. Justice will be done. After the Australia-Italy game, all referees have been giving yellow cards for dives. Why hasn't soccer used VIDEO REFEREEING? We are not in the 1930s. We have games televised live and instant replays can be used to rule fair decisions. FIFA says the world game is "fair". It's not fair when you have referees making blunders with rulings. Cricket and rugby use video referees. How come soccer is way behind in this? Use video refereeing. And i have a challenge to the italians A REMATCH in the near future. Italy and the rest of the big soccer nations, stop BULLYING new comers. if you want a fair game, play fairly. it's boring to see one nation win a world cup over and over again. we might as well give the trophy to Brazil to keep forever and forget about hosting the world cup.

I hope soon, but they are not going to be eliminated unless there is a good ref. what is up with the refs? as far as the attacker tripping, I don't think that he tripped. That was definately a dive. And that was a goal threatening situation when Chipperfield got fouled by materazzi. I think that it deserved a red card.

REPEATING a foul to be otherwise doesn't change the score unless you are referring to no rules or what they call Aussie ball which is not on the menu and move on or better still just hop to the next one in 4 yrs time.
