America is one of the few countries that does not have a state sponsored official language. Sure, most of us speak english but because it's not state sponsored it's not necessary for citizenship. So, as a responsible country (or business) we make everything easier on people who speak a different language.

So to answer your question. You live in the United States and that's WHY you have to press one for english.

the bleeding hearted liberal and leftist Democrats shove PC crap down our neck. I'm sorry your in the USA speak the language or take your butt home, cuz I'm tired of paying for you. ENGLISH is the language spoken here. Not Spanish, not German, not Russian. The reason other countries speak English, is that it is the language of commerce and business. Go from Ontario Canada into Quebec. 90% of the signs are in FRENCH not ENGLISH. If you don't want to speak the language of this great USA then feel free to pack up and move out. I guarantee that you wont have it as good there as you do here. One of the only countries in the world where u can bad mouth the government and they wont take you and trow you in jail or torture you. I will prolly get flamed for this but someone has to speak his mind and stand up for what he believes in. Lord know you libs wont.

'Cause someone somewhere decided that to be Politically correct we should allow for a FEW other options. Not enough to cover all the languages spoken in people's homes but a select few. Make sense ? Of course not, that would be thinking logical and it is my belief that NO ONE in politics can think logically. And until we stop accepting these actions we're as dumb as they are.

I recently visited Mexico City (it was an amazing trip), and there was no option for English on the automated phone numbers I called. I didn't expect one, either. When you go to a country you need to learn their language, plain and simple. You can't expect an entire country to cater to you and your chosen method of communication.

economy, business, courtesy, marketing, everything related with the way how the companies reach customers. You are not only American, you are part of this economy and this economy also uses another languages... learn to live here in a capitalist country

Because you want to hear the rest of the options in English. Duh. Or were you saying that people in this country who can't speak English shouldn't have the right to listen to those options in a language they understand? That is really pushing it. Try to be a little more tolerant.
