In a Web Application Typically these would be:
View: JSP pages
Model: Java Classes/EJB
Controller: Servlet.

MVC is a design technique, that allows for easier control and maintenance of an application.

For once, you might actually find MSDN (Microsoft) useful. They have a lot of info on patterns and practices and although not directly applicable, the following article should give a decent enough overview.
