Get RIT dye at most grocery stores in the aisle with laundry detergent. Check the website below for directions. Don't bother getting a "kit".

You don't need a kit. All you need is some string, rubber bands and some different color dyes. You also need the garment you want to tie dye. The dyes can be purchased at any 5 and 10. They must be permanent color dyes, you can even find them in the supermarket. After you are done, tie dyeing your garments, throw them in the wash, before you wear them.

At any arts and craft stores. Try Micheal's. You really do not need a tie dye kit just food coloring and a bunch of rubber bands and some white t-shirts. it is cheaper that way and still does the same thing I learned that trick in my art class.

We did this in school as an art project back in the early 70's. We used rubber bands rather than string. The rubber bands prevent the dye from seeping into the part under the rubber band. Use different thicknesses of bands unless you want a more "uniform" size in the undyed parts. Use RIT dye and the longer you leave it in the dye, the darker it will be.

Just buy some white shirts that you want to tye dye, rubber bands, and the color dye's that you want (you can buy at grocery store, or like Rite Aid or Longs) In buckets you put the dye with some water, The shirts you wrap rubber bands around everywhere,(grip a piece of cloth rubber band it) then you dip either the whole shirt in one color or dip in different colors.

My missus buys stuff from a company called " Dharma" Thing is, I don't think there is a kit. You just tie the fabric and dye it different ways.
