I read the other posts and I think they have some interesting views... I personally think Atheist would be number one because there are quite a few in the world and when running for President the first question in a debate is do you believe in god? Plus a candidate should be able to get away with saying his personal beliefs are his business because of the separation of church and state. I was intrigued by the person who said they wouldn't let the power of nuclear weapons onto a person who did not belief in God. I personally am a Atheist but I do not believe that the use of a Nuclear weapon is a good or right thing to do, and the deaths of millions of innocent people would still hurt me so. Just because someone does not believe their is a God doesn't mean they don't respect the lives of others and doesn't know right from wrong.

Second I would have to say a toss up from Female and African American. Both have very strong leaders, and their has been a lot of people I know who would vote of a woman just because it is a woman (Which I think is stupid...)

Third would be Asian because they are widely accepted within the community, but right now we still have first and second generation Asian families who haven't adapted into the American culture which would hinder them more. Maybe next generation.

Fourth would be Homosexuals because many many people have "issues" with homosexuals. Which is really too bad because many of them are good leaders and their sexual preference shouldn't effect their ability to lead. (I personally accept homosexuals... What ever floats your boat I'm not here to tell you what you can like)

1) black 2) Asian 3) Female 4) homosexual 5) Atheist.

Just my guess. We've had some great black leaders and I think it's getting close to time for one of them to go all the way. Asians are accepted in this country, I just can't think of any who are well known political figures. It's not that this country would never, eventually, accept a female leader, but I don't know of any right now in the position to be elected. Definitely this country's not ready for any homosexuals or professed atheists to get elected anytime in the near future. Sadly, there's just too much prejudice against homosexuals. And even I would wonder about an atheist having control over our nuclear capabilities- an agnostic, I could accept, but an atheist? And I'm extremely liberal.

Oh, and you didn't mention Hispanic. But then they're not a minority are they?

Female, because America will never elect a homosexual. It just won't, and that's OK by me. Second would be a Black, but a man. I'd vote for J. C. Watts or Ken Blackwell any day. I'd vote for Condoleeza Rice, too. Asians do not have the voter base to elect a President yet but I see a possibility in the future, provided he is an American citizen of birth in this country. No atheist will ever, ever be elected President. America is a God-fearing country and could never elect someone who swears up and down (but not on a Bible) that God does not exist. 70% of Americans indicate an association to a Christian religion in their lives. Besides, God gave us this country over giving it to any other people from around the world. I think it's mankind's Second Chance.

Maybe an atheist has already been president, but he never let on.
Jefferson was a deist, which is pretty close to being an atheist.
