You will notice that they 'box up' around their anus just prior to dropping the fry, I find that most of my females hide in the back corner by the plans just prior to dropping them and they do not eat. I have noticed that the stress of being moved will stop them from having the babies so I usually let them have the babies in the tank and them remove them.

First of all get yourself a breeding tank, they normally go and lay on the bottom on the gravel, the males will be all around her, she will ignore them but they will try and mate with her again.
Remove your females when they are swollen and black at the back, the little hole where the babies come out will be swollen and white thenshe will be ready if you cant get a breeding tank remove her and put her into a small tank with a lot of spawning grass, plant some and let some float on thew surface

They wont eat your young unless they are mixed with other fish. If you have small plants for the babies to hide, they should be safe. I have a tank with a few breeding females, 4 cardinal tetras, and a pleco, I dont have any plants, and my tank is overcrowded. I've never had any problems with my babies, except having too many.

they gather up by brush or any kinda hiding spots and stay still and then when shes bright red almost black she should have them any minute. But they get real still and hide but watch so when the guppies drops outta her that you get them before she eats them or have plants in tha tank so that the babies can hide which yes they will do.......
