Yes, it's way to far for only 13 dollars an hour. Have you checked gas prices recently sweetie? The only thing I would have suggested, is that he found another job first.

I think there is a bigger picture here than the drive.... Coal dust causes a disease of the lung commonly called Black Lung. It affects the lungs ability to remain pliable and causes the person to slowly asphyxiate. Your husband should find a job closer to home...

There are plenty of jobs that pay better than $13.00 / hour. I think he should apply as a Construction Superintendant with a company that does underground trenching for utilities. He certainly has the heavy equipment experience, and those people usually make around $60,000 / year.

Hope this helps.

yes 2 hours is too far to drive to work...especially for only $13 an hour and such a hard job. What are are you from? I know where he can make more money than that and a job that's not so hard or dirty or a health risk.

look is a way far drive, but lets size the pros and cons...he just doesn't want to drive anymore for 2 hours,so if he quits now or later wont make a difference, now 13 per hour too low for that much drive...and about the black hat,if that will give him an extra umf on his resume,I would wait until Nov. once you get your black hat,you have more options....

It would depend on how 'bad' he needed the job. If he has other ways of making money to support the family then it is too far to drive, if that was the only source of income and he doesnt have something else lined up, then he is wrong and is being lazy.

hmm not sure, coalmine work is dangerous, 13 dollars an hour is good, 2 hours is a long way. its something to think about, is 13 dollars an hour worth the risk of getting traped in a mine

Never quit a job until you have another one.

Depends on how long he was employed? If he had vacation time accrued?

$13.00 an hour is a decent wage BUT not with a 2 hour drive one way.

wear and tear on the body and transport make those 4 extra hours a day hard. My suggestion would be to move closer or only come homes on his days off.
