The future. I have no romantic notions of other time periods. People seem to have a tendency to project their nostalgia onto 'simpler' times but I think that people are still people, with all their complexity, whenever you lived. I don't believe in times getting better or worse either, each period has its own concerns, values, ideals, fears and anxieties. Sure the actual 'quality' of life may seem to be improving, but not really. All our conveniences like modern medical care are out of the reach of larger numbers of people than ever. (Considering the population explosion)
I would choose sometime in the future just out of curiosity. To see where we are finally heading vis-a-vis global warming, terrorism and what not.

The 1940's even though WWII was no picnic Americans were unified and working toward a common goal. Win the war! The music of the 40's was optimistic and caring. People would go dancing for fun (if they were not off fighting). Life was wholesome and living didn't have to be high octane.

I've always been curious about the Roaring Twenties, and also the years of World War II. The 20s, with bootleggers, etc. would be quite interesting, and World War II was (from what I was told by older relatives) a time where everyone was patriotic, and stood together for a united cause.

The 1960's and 1970's because they seem like such awesome times, what's not to love? The fashion was great, the music was mind blowing, the cars were cool. Everything started going downhill once the totally wack 80's arrived.

I would love to live in prehistoric times...no population explosion to deal with, no advanced technology to confuse me, no pollution...It would be just me against the environment. I would live off the land, become a nomad, watch the night sky in all its glory, no bills to worry about. I would create everything myself: my shelter, clothing, my way of living...but most blessed of all is that I don't have to follow any rules. I am the master of my domain. I would walk and walk and explore the landscape, staying with other people for a while, learning new ways of communicating and new inventions, teaching them what I learned from the previous clan, then off I go again on my solitary journey, continuously learning and continuously teaching. It would be a wonderful life of non-attachment.

Either in ancient Roman times or medieval Europe, not the most technologically advanced time periods I know but words like loyalty and honor still had a meaning.
