My life has had low points before, but this is the ultimate all time low. I'm recovering from a severe depression, my husband of 20 years left me, I'm out of work and have no money. I haven't lost faith completely because I also have 2 great kids, a good education and close friends. But sometimes it is really difficult finding the strength to go on. It seems that life is out to get me!

I understand what you are going through. Times like these test us and our mettle. Do not lose faith in yourself. Its good you realise and recognise all the good things you have. you are very lucky you have two great kids, and close friends. There are those who don't even have that. If you husband left you, I'm sure you must be going through a phase of self doubt. but don't doubt yourself. Its his loss he left you! Its him who couldn't keep up his promises and you much too worthy for him :)
don't loose hope.what is life without hope. hope that one day things will be better and i assure you they will. just keep reminding yourself that there is a future out there, much better, just waiting for you.
i wish you all the best.
keep smiling:)

I just go to the outdoors somewhere, like a local park and just sit on a bench or in the grass and just listen to the world around me. Sometimes I just talk to it, yes it sounds crazy, but its relieving, I can vent all my frustrations, problems, and anxieties without getting unwanted advice or being judged. Pick something bigger than yourself, something intangible. It doesn't have to be religious or spiritual. Its just time for you and you alone. Also take pride in your great kids, look at the lust for life they have and accept it into you, you'll start to feel a lot better, its a long road(and one I have traveled) but its worth the little bit of time.

I think the only thing that you could possibly do at this very moment of your life is to pray to God and ask Him to grant you with patience as to what is coming next in your life.
And the only way you could find strength is by looking at other people's problems [which is usually more severe] and thanking God for what you have.

Always look on the positive side of the situation. Things happen because it is meant to.

At times, simply looking at less fortunate people make me appreciate what i have. Appreciate even the small things.

And last but not the least, turn to God...

aside from prayer, try saying the name of your God. Mine is Jesus since I'm a catholic. Now, if ever your in the brink of insanity and is almost loosing your grip in reality, or is in rage, try saying JESUS. It neutralizes and normalizes everything. You see, that is the role of our metapersonal beliefs, to normalize everything.

Hope to be of help!
