he's only 9...you should try to get him to change. he just needs some time to adjust to a new way of shooting. you can't get the full range of motion shooting with the wrong foot forward....so if you don't change it now, it's going to be really tough later on when he shoots 3s and longer/tougher shots.

Its ok if hes making the shots, dont change how he shoots if he's good. Many NBA players shoot differently.(ex.Shawn Marion-Chest Shot, Rasheed Wallace-Over Head, Rick Berry-Underhand, etc.)

that depends. is he making it? even if he is....if you teach him now, he will be better later. Even if he cant reach the rim, tell him to practice, he will get better over time.

No. You want him to shoot with booth feet together. You want him to jump as high as he can, and when he's at the hieght of his jump shoot the ball(with control) and hold his form. Trust me it works.

yes balance is they key so if he is balanced then dont change it but it might be smart to change it now if you are going to b/c old habits are hard to break
