Well, I don't know how much you know about soccer, but even tough Australia played a good game, they were never dangerous and Italy had more chances on scoring goals (I say that because you talk about "deserving")
If you really watched teh game without being biased, you should have noticed that Viduka should have been substituted as soon as the (illegitimate) red card was given to Materazzi. Hiddink continued to play with five midfielder (against three of Italy) that had superior possession of the ball, but they were too slow and not efficient on penetrate the Italian defense, because the only striker (Viduka) was perfectly controlled by Cannavaro. Hiddink should have replace Viduka and allowed even another striker to be on the field.
btw: only who does not understand about soccer says that it was not a penalty kick on Grosso!

Nope. The referees selected for this competion should be fired (or better yet...set up and shot). The russian referee that they assigned for the USA vs Italy game made on one proper call- sending des rossie out of the game for that attrocious elbow. Anyway, Australia played well and that call made aiding Toti's kick was (in my view) a bad call.

Whether they deserve to loose or not is really immaterial. Point is they are out now and there isn't anything anyone can do about it. The US didn't deserve their loss either, but what can we do about it. I say just plan for 2007 and hope that the games will be even better than any in the past.

Australia didn't deserve to lose that way.
In extra time, that would be fine. By penalties, even better. but from a penalty in the last 10 seconds of the match? not that way. If we had Kewell, we would have won.

No they didn't. It was really dissapointing that Grosso had to dive like that. They just can't help cheating can they?
