After doing MSc inn physics one can get job in Research programs in companies. Once you get a PhD degree in physics you can do Post Doctorate and then join R&D of a company or join some research institute as a faculty.

What is your objective. If you wish posh quarters and cushy kind of job, form a paper trail to impress people.
If you have as your objective to be beneficial to mankind in your work, read a book or two about George Washington Carver. He was great in what he was and what he did. "Top shelf" kind of work that is still an inspiration to people who read of his life.

work for NASA. Work for a university and be broke :) . But you will have great intellectual convos with colleages. You will be at the level to discuss all of Eistein's theories.
