What would make out politicians honest in thier work? i think that if senators and congressmen had a spending limit, and a bank-cap (bank account maximum funds limit) it'd deture bribing.. also, why not tap and record thier every communication and movement? does anybody agree that if we took money out of politics it would help make politics more honest? and how could we do this?

Yeah...RIGHT...because they wouldn't find another way to make money on the side. A politician would only be honest if he/she really wanted to be. You can be whatever you desire, and anything outside of that is uncontrollable by any outside force. You could set up the most advanced surveillance system on each one of them...and they would find a loop hole (most likely cut the ones in charge of monitoring in on the deal). There is no infallible system. We as Americans just have to be more selective on who we elect, problem is most honest people see politicians as dishonest and would not stake their name on such a title. We just need to figure out how to get the honest ones to want to be politicians, and get them elected. That is not to say there isn't the occasional honest politician, there are I am sure even some now in positions of political authority. The only thing you can do is hope for the best, and that you made the right decision when you elect so-and-so in to office.

If they are VERY rich and are in politics as a "toy job" or hobby, then there is a fair chance that they are honest.
Otherwise, "somebody owns them."
registering political action committees (PAC money) and reports to the Federal Election Commission and dollar limites were the result of Nixon and Watergate ... and... the politicians are dirtier and the campaigns more expensive than ever. I'm afraid of another mealy, incompetent election reform law.
Let's just admit that they are owned by somebody and shake them up and scare them as much as possible.

The only way.. AND THE EASIEST WAY... for a politician to be honest is... for the people, every one, to actually pay attention to what the politicians are doing...
if a politician gives a big tax break to big oil and the people actually paid attention to who did it and voted them out... every one of them that supported it... and made it very clear in many letters why they were voting them out... there would be no more big oil tax breaks...
and so on with every item of corruption... the votes are public record, we just don't make them abide by what they vote for...

yeah that's simple do away with lobbies and your well on your way...A corporations lobby spends millions getting there guy elected and he kicks there money back to them legally in corporate welfare and then some and hes in there pocket if he intends to be reelected...yeah its simple if we can convince the politicians to kill the goose that is laying the golden egg..fat chance rich get richer and the poor get poorer...welcome to America and capitalism run amok
