What's the deal with these incest related questions? And how come these people aren't getting any professional help?

I know, its scary, I am so glad my kids are grown now, there are far too many perverts out there, and the Internet has opened up a real danger to children, parents, please monitor your children when on line!

Well probably because there is a lot of incest going on in this world, particularly adults abusing children. It's not new, and it's not restricted to any culture, community, race, religion, or gender (although most abusers are what we consider heterosexual males).

Why aren't they getting help .. wow .. I could write a thesis on this .. first of all there's very little awareness, second, not all the professional help is sensitised to the needs of abused children, third, most kids don't tell so grow up with unresolved issues that they then have to deal with in adulthood, fourth fifth sixth .. hmm .. societal and cultural taboos, and unsympathetic society that tells them to get over it or not to wash dirty family linen in public, legal systems that re-traumatise the victim .. children who don't think they deserve help or feel that they are somehow to blame, or were made to feel like accessories to the crime .. feeling a bit exhausted just writing about all this for now .. i need a cup of tea. Sorry. Sometimes it just gets to me.

Some people are either curious or they believe that incest/molestation is ok. Or, if they think it is wrong, they want to be sure. Or it could be that they know that someone needs help for it, but aren't sure where to go for it, how to ask for it, etc.

If it is the one being abused, they may believe that they deserve it because of what the abuser has told them over and over, how they feel because of the abuse, etc. They may want to find out if others are also having this done to them to find out if this is what goes on in every household, or just theirs.
