To Answer only your main Question, James Cameron would not have got an opportunity to make billions out of one movie. Kate Winslet will still have remained a struggling starlet. And Celine Dion will be yet to get a worldwide fan following !

I believe we decide what's going to happen to us before we live. We choose the path and then after we are born, some of us forget what we chose. It's written in the stars way before we are born. How else could you explain people who are born with so much money and others with nothing? Or people who know what they want to do with their lives since they are young and others who have no clue? I think we don't always make the wisest of choices before we are born, too.
