The lymph nodes are all over the entire body. Most anatomy text books will tell you different names for all of them because there is such high variablility in just where they all are person to person. On a woman the most important group are the axillary lymph nodes of the armpit, which is where breast cancer is most likely to metastesize to first.

Lymph nodes produce immune cells to help fight infection. They also filter the lymph fluid and remove foreign material, such as bacteria and cancer cells. They can become swollen from inflammatory conditions, an abscess, cancer, and most commonly from infection. Common areas where lymph nodes can be felt include the groin, armpit, behind the ears, back of the head, sides of the neck and under the jaw and chin.

The nodes are the same in both female & male. Intestinal nodes, inguinal nodes (at groin), cervical nodes, axillary nodes. Here's a bonus: the organs of the lymphatic system are the tonsils (pharyngeal, palatine and sublingual), thymus gland, mammary plexus, spleen, Peyer's patches in the intestinal wall, appendix, bone marrow, right and thoracic lymphatic ducts.
