I watched it. The penalty at the end was wrong. However, we cant change that now.
Australia is on the way to becoming a big player and people have started taking notice.
There will be another one and the Aussies will have another shot at Italy. Cant wait for that......

I think the ref's call was totally wrong, Australia played a bloody good match and didn't deserve to go out like that, had it gone into extra time and a penalty shoot-out and Italy legitimately won, that would be fair enough, and whatever side you're on, it was a damn good kick, but it was a bad call and Australia deserved to keep on fighting, the win didn't reflect the match AT ALL, I also don't think Matterazzi should have been red carded, another bad ref call, yellow maybe, but not red, BAD REF! Like I said, both teams should have kept fighting, and it's a bad way to go from such a well-played game

hi, my hat off to the Australia team. What a supprise! and for the last second called for a penalty, I don't think we should blame the refs 100%. The Italy just a little bit more "experience" to draw a foul ,and it was at the right place, and the right time. It was luck that not on the Australia team today. But believe me, Italy will not goes far in this tournament.

Yeah, I did. I could just pity for the mighty Oz. They have peeked at the right time and it was disappointing to see the fashion they were forced out of the tournament.

Agreed, that it was a poor decision by the referee. But, we do have the advantage of slow motion replays, which they do not. I guess, the raised elbow of the defender might have played the spoil sport. Even though he might have done it to defend himself against the attackers knee, it might have flashed on as a foul to the referee's brain.

If the refereeing was pathetic against Portugal and Holland, it was comparatively good in this match. But that last error by the referee was a sad one for the Oz fans.

The ref made a terrible call and in a game we were surely going to win, in saying that we should of scored earlier but at least we know that we are better than the Italians

That was a penalty. Just give up Australia lost. The Italians are better.

Australia played good except that their defender did the mistake in the 5th minute of stoppage time [extra time] otherwise the match would go in penalty shootouts and the socceroos (Australia) had chance to go through the next round.

yes, but 9 times out of 10 the ref would have called that a penalty.

The ref made a horrible desicion. Anyone could have seen that that was a dive. And even if it was obstruction, it would have been an INDIRECT FREE KICK. I mean, the aussie was lying with his back to the italian and he didn't move until the guy dove. he couldn't have fouled him
