that is a very good question. most black women do not condone this practice at all. however, the ones that do apparently see it as being independent and sexy, instead of docile and subjected (which, in my opinion, is pure hypocrisy seeing how they are being sexually exploited and subjected). black women have been sexually oppressed for years. sexuality equals independence and dominance to some people. a lot of the women (video vixens, video hoes, whatever) don't see anything wrong with what they do. for some, it's sexually liberating. for some, it's a paycheck. and for some of them, it's not even about being sexy and independent, it's about getting close to whatever artist is doing the video.
besides....the content of the video has to match the lyrical content. that, in and of itself, is a different subject ENTIRELY
it also has to do with the growing trend in this country of showing women a objects instead of people. it's a whole lot easier to see a shaking booty or a bouncing chest without a face (basically, dismembered body parts) then seeing a girls and her face. her face reminds you that she's human and not your little sex slave. in most music videos, you only catch glimpses of the womens' faces. it's just body parts. and when you do see their face, they're making a sexually suggestive face or else their clothes or dancing is distracting you from it anyway. but i don't think this paragraph was in the question....
i think it all amounts to a lot of insecurities. if you feel you have to be half naked in a music video to assert your sexuality and independece, then you have some daddy issues or self esteem problems. something.

Its a rediscovered form of blaxplotation.
As long as someone is willing to pay as much as $5,000.00, even $10,000.00 to for a girl to look cute in next to nothing for a three day video shoot, it will continue. The rate goes up even higher if they actually are a known "glamor" model.
