No the italians did not deserve that penalty.
The socceroos were unlucky as that penalty decision
was completely baseless. A Soccer novice like me knows enough to say that you just cannot tackle a person lying on the ground. The italian was clumsy and and tripped all over neil.

it is an arguable call against australia, but during the whole WC we see some fouls got away with it and some innocent tackle got the wrong call. so it depends on the referee how he judged it. the italy player MAKE(many players do this) it look like a hard tackle and there you go.....penalty for italians. btw im an italian fan huahauhauahuaha...

Yeah, they did...the defender made a play on the guys legs, not the ball. I don't see the ref having a big controversy on that one.
Don't worry, there is no way Italy can beat the Germans.
