You can file at the local court if you know what to do. You can use the law library to find out the necessary forms etc. You can also call the local legal office they will be will to help if you qualify ,their cost is very minimal . the other resort ids to look up in the phone for a Lawyer that specializes in bankruptcy you can also get recommendation from friends or relatives. The disadvantage for filing bankruptcy is that it remains on your credit report for7 years. This record could make it more difficult to get credit and when you do get credit it is at higher premiums. The good thing is that you get another chance to make a fresh start and that is very good. But it is your responsibility to be more fiscally responsible from now on. Just a work of caution it has become more difficult to file bankruptcy since last October so ... good luck
