i always get confused as to which is the creative side and which is the rational/mathematical side. Please help.

right brain = creativity and intuition (think pictures). left brain = math and logic (think numbers). To me both sides have cabability for rational thought. The logic in the left brain is more mathematically tuned.
Easy way to remember: creative is right (both have more letters in the word), while math is left (both have only 4 letters).
I am ambidextrous, which means both sides of my brain are almost equal in dominance. I favor the left hand slightly more, and am also an artist. Most natural artists are left handed which means they use the right side of the brain more with their creativity.

right is the creative side and left is the more rational/mathematical side. I used to get confused too but I came up with a memorizing trick. You know right handed people tend to use their left side of the brain more and vice versa? I learned it in psychology but just remember whatever your hand is, you usually use the opposite side of the brain more. And I KNOW that i am better at math than I am at art, so that is how i remember the left side is for math and stuff.

I wouldn't really say that one side is "rational" and the other "artistic" ... Language, is the most lateralized function and is largely a left (brain) hemisphere function, while visual/spatial thinking is thought to rely more on the right hemisphere. In order to do mathematics, you need to use language to express and understand the problem, so mathematical ability is thought to depend more on the left hemisphere. Hope this helps.

The cerebral hemispheres control the opposite sides of the body, i.e. the left-brain controls the right hand, and vice-versa, and the left brain is also said to be more practical/technical, while the right-brain left/handers are more artistic. So you want a left-brain mechanic, and a right-brain interior-designer.
