its a way of explaining that different ppl have different preferences, and that we dont all agree.usually used when talking about paintings. but, its like thig: i might think that short girls with blond hair that wear pink are cute, but my brother might think that tall girls with black hair and dark skin are cute (and we'd both be right, lol) but theres not a "correct" answer. whats beautiful is for each person to decide for themselves. (and i think that all kinds of women are beautiful, thank god for variety).

The phrase "beauty lies in the eyes of beholder" point to the fact that different people find different sights as pleasing or beautiful. Put another way, the beauty of same object or sight may be assessed differently by different person. Thus a thing is beautiful not because of some intrinsic physical feature it possesses by because of the the likes and preferences of the person viewing the object. Thus the beauty is something that exists in the mind of the person seeing it. Thus the word eyes has been used here figuratively to represent the mind and feelings of the person seeing - the beholder.

It's true that people, even babies, respond to the same kind of physical beauty at first sight, but we also take the whole person into consideration. How many times have you met a person that you didn't find attractive, but once you got to know them and respect them you saw them as more beautiful? Happens all of the time. And how many times have you seen a hot girl/guy that turned out to be a douchebag and in addition to hating their personality, you actually started to see them as less physically attractive? Or you see a person that you think is unattractive, but when people around you seem to find them hot, you take a second look and think, "yeah, I can see where they're coming from" Plus, there are studies that show that a person is viewed as more/less attractive based on the attractiveness of their partner, whether or not they're smiling, etc... Attraction is a complex thing.

I heard
--> a Male Forg Telling a Female Frog,
You are so Beautiful.

-> A Donkey Telling Another
You are the most Charming And Lovable

-> A Worm Telling Another
You are the most beautiful living creature i have ever seen.

But i will say "you are beautiful " than all these creatures.

Its all on how we think and are grown into.

PS. A Baby might be ugly,stupid and dirty but his\her mother will not hesitate kissing and hugging him\her.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder pretty much means we all have our opinions on what beautiful means or is. For example the hunchback of Notre dame ( the Disney version) everyone calls igor ugly and stupid but Esmeralda see's how beautiful he really is with his kindness.

Every person, or at least most people, have some feature that is admired by someone else. Just as we are all different, also are our tastes in not just foods, but also places we like to go, things we like to do, and people we like to be with.

What one person finds as enjoyable, doesn't necessarily appeal to someone else. Such as it is with people, and those we like to be with. Certain traits that people have, appeal to others in varying ways. What one person sees as good in someone, somebody else may not even be bothered to give the time of day to.

When someone falls in love with someone, it isn't just the physical person they admire, but also the person within that they are drawn to. Similarities in likenesses and hobbies, sports or activities is also a drawing factor.

Those that jump for someone without exploring and discovering the real person, are often left unsatisfied with their decision and therefore, such relationships rarely last.

True love is what you feel about someone, regardless of what others see or say about the one you admire. It's a gut instinct that you will know once you are struck with it. It's a wonderful experience being drawn to someone for more then just physical appearances, but rather the wholeness of the individual itself, for beauty, then truly does, lie in the eyes of the beholder.

There was a scene in an old movie, Moby Dick, when Captain Ahab, played by Gregory Peck, who reached out to his second in command and said, 'come here, Starbuck, let me look into a human eye. 'Tis better than to gaze into sea or sky'. And, then asked, 'why do you tremble so, Starbuck?'

'Because', said Starbuck, 'I do not have the bowels to slaughter thee and save the whole ship from thy dying hand'.

In the movie, Scarface, Al Pacino tells his partner as they were driving home from a night out on the town, 'he's soft, that chick likes me'.

'Yea, how do you know that.'

'The eyes, they never lie.'

We romanticize, criticize, fantasize and theorize about the eyes. So, why should beauty be any different. It's all in the eyes.

The perception of what is beautiful is purely subjective. While there are things which are universally accepted as beautiful, their appeal to the individual as beautiful varies from person to person. For example, a Madagascar hissing beetle may be revolting to one person, but a thing of incredible beauty to another. But while it is pretty much an accepted standard that there is no ugliness in anything natural the appeal of certain things in nature will vary from person to person.
