When I hit CTRL+F in an Internet Explorer window (to find something in a Web page), the entire window closes. How can I fix this? Again, Windows XP, and Internet Explorer 6. Thank you.

This doesn't happen in any other program--only Internet Explorer.

Does this happen outside of Internet Explorer?

In other words, test CTRL-F in other programs like Microsoft Word or Notepad. Most importantly, we would also need to know if this has worked fine before in the past.

It would appear at this point that perhaps the keys on your keyboard aren't specified the way you think they are. Laptops are notorious for this. A lot of them have special function keys that can switch on options to cause certain keys to act differently.

**** UPDATE ****

Did you try going to Edit -> Find from the menu at the top? Does that option work correctly?

Because this doesn't happen in other apps such as Notepad, it's not an issue with your keyboard at least. That's a good thing!
