He lived 18 months.The farmer was trying to keep as much of the neck as possible,missed the jugular and left the brain stem-which runs the functions like heart and breathing. When he saw the chicken continue walking around acting like a normal chicken he began to feed and water it with an eyedropper. Unfortunately one night the chicken choked and they couldn't clear his trachea in time.

what? how can the chicken go so long without a head, i don't understand. how could it just go on pecking for food with it's head cut off - it doesn't make any sense. There was no brain to send brain signals to tell the chicken to do anything.
