They usually tend to give you something that relaxes you...right before you go into the OR I don't know what it is called exactly but it works...and then they will bring you to the OR and then they will give you oxygen while they are giving you the anesthesia intravenously and then you will be asleep in about 5 seconds.

I have been put under 14 times. They first inject something into the IV to greatly relax you, like a high dose of Valium, then to put you to sleep they inject a couple of meds to first put you out and second something so you will not feel pain. After i receive the high dose of Valium to relax me i don't even remember going to sleep. 20 years ago they didn't relax you first. All i felt was this cold stuff going through my veins and i was out like a light. Weird smell too before i was out. I didn't like to be put out that way. I am glad that they have changed.

There are several different ones. Different areas use different drugs. They usually give you something to calm you down and sometimes that puts you to sleep, then they give you more of something else while in the OR. It depends on the type and length of the surgery, what you're allergic to.

You mean Surgery Operations? If that's the case, the doctor usually use Epidural for pain.

A muscle relaxant is given to relieve anxiety prior to going to theatre ussually diazepam or temazapam.
