I have just finished school and need to go get a job... I'm not good at math in my head AT ALL, and I know the kind of job I'm gonna get is gonna have to be working with a cash register, most likely... I have like a phobia of working with a cash register because I'm so worried it'll mess up or something and I'll have to do it all in my head, which I wouldn't be able to do, at all. How easy is working with one? and how likely is it that I'll end up having to do the math in my head?

I'm not worried about counting cash, that I can do. It's very simple. I don't know what my problem is. I'm just worried about the cash register not working for me and me having to figure it all out on my own along with all the tax and prices.

In the 21st century, all registers are like computers. If you know how to text message on a cell phone, use a computer, calculator, then you can use a cash register.
However, if you still feel uncomfortable, then try the deli dept, stocking shelves at the grocery stores or Walmart.
If you really do not want to touch cash, then try jobs in the janitorial dept, they never try cash!

Granted, I'm not a whiz at math either, but I believe that most modern day cash registers give you all of the information that you'll need.

Otherwise, if it doesn't, this is a good opportunity to learn the basics of math when it has to do with money. I think that it will come to you pretty quickly, as it's a visual way to learn.

Hope that this helps.

The register will tell you the change, many idiots do it everyday.
You and I are in the same shoes.

Just count off as you pick up change. 7.76 in change?

Pick up a 5, 1, 1, quarter (25) quarter (50) dime (60) dime (70)...
you get the point, it's easy.
