What Movie Files will Playstation Play?

I want to download some movies for my boyfriend, Im not sure if its playstation 1 or 2.

I think playstation 1 won't play movies, I know Playstation 2 will. The movies it plays are DVD. If you are making your own DVD's be sure you don't get DVD RW discs. Get the non-Read/Write DVD discs and burn it in the most compatible mode.
