She really shouldn't have done that. But since she did, I am pretty sure it will only stay in the baby's system as long as it would in hers. Since she is that far along and almost everything is pretty much formed well it shouldn't have much of an effect on the baby. As long as this was only a one time thing. Hopefully it's not something she does all the time. If you two truly are friends and she respects you and your advice, I would advise her not to do it anymore unless she wants to cause complications during the rest of her pregnancy, during delivery, and/or after the baby is born. Please get her to stop immediately. And to drink a lot of water to try to flush it out of the baby's system as quickly as possible. Good luck. And I think you are a good friend for caring enough to ask.

She's lucky she didn't kill it. The baby definitely got drunk. She possibly gave the baby brain damage. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome children are hard to care for. Your friend must be an idiot.
A baby's immature body breaks down the alcohol much slower than an adults. The baby's blood alcohol level will be higher than the mothers and it will stay that way longer. This can cause physical and mental development problems. Even 2 beers can cause a problem. That was just stupid and irresponsible.

I think that is just about one of the most selfish and uncaring things I have ever heard of. Tell your friend to read up on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is a group of birth defects caused by drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Children with FAS have many physical, mental and behavioral problems and may be mentally retarded. They are small, underweight babies. As they get older, they often have trouble with learning, attention, memory, and problem solving. They may have poor coordination, be impulsive, and have speech and hearing problems.

The effects of FAS last a lifetime. Most children with FAS have trouble with work and with personal relationships when they become adults. Many have legal problems.

FAS cannot be reversed, but it can be prevented by not drinking alcohol when pregnant.

The alcohol in her blood will go through the babies umbilical cord and then will be in the babies blood as well. How stupid can one be?

. Some experts recommend abstaining completely during pregnancy. Others suggest abstaining for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and then having only the occasional drink, while some doctors feel that having the occasional drink throughout pregnancy won't do any harm.

Scientists do know that heavy drinking on a regular basis affects a developing child. Research suggests that the babies of women who drank one to two glasses of alcohol a day throughout their pregnancy have more problems with learning, speech, attention span, language, and hyperactivity than the offspring of women who abstained.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends that women should be careful about alcohol consumption in pregnancy and limit their intake to no more than one unit of alcohol per day.

Alcohol is eliminated from your body by the liver. The more alcohol there is, and the unheathier your liver is to begin with, the longer it will take to get rid of it.

There is no way to speed up the process. Your liver does it on its own time. You can't control it any more than you can control the weather.

If you can't get an extension on the test, explain beforehand you drank a beer, not knowing you were going to be having a baby soon - and hope they have mercy on you!

I could be wrong, but I think I read in a pregnancy book that alcohol stays in the mothers system for 24 hours before being completely eliminated but it will stay in the babies systems double that time. It is very hard for a fetus to break down all of the toxins in alcohol and eliminate it from their system. A fetus goes through distress when alcohol is introduced into their frail little bodies. They have such a hard time breaking it down. It is a very selfish thing to do. If you drink - your baby drinks.

If it was only 2 beers, and it rarely happens, I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure she doesn't do it any more.

It probably stays in baby's system as long as it does in an adult's--3 days.

Probably the same amount of time it stayed in the mom's system. Drinking while pregnant is really dangerous stuff - if your friend needs help you should really encourage her to get it. If she is doing this often she is causing serious damage to the unborn baby.

a couple of beers wont' harm her baby. neurological growth is hugely delicate and sensitive to substances in the first 4 months. after that, the baby's body and brain are formed and working.

women in european countries have a small glass of wine with dinner each night and it doesn't do harm. it's regular heavy drinking that causes problems. make certain she takes care of herself.

the alchohol in her baby will be metabolized within 24 hours.

6 beers and she is pregnant ..my god.Isn't she a wonderful mother.Anyway it will depend on the filtration capacity of the Kidneys. I would say up to 10 to 12 hours. But Achool does go through the placenta's barrier and that means the baby is also getting his doze.
