You can study any degree that you would like. Some schools have a Pre-Opt program set up already, others don't. But any major institution (meaning that they offer Ph.D's and have research on campus) is going to offer the fundamental classes that you will need to get into Professional School. You should really start talking to Optometry schools to find out what they require...most likely, a lot of Biology, Chemisty, Math, Physics...

Biology. or Pre-Med. Then you go to prof. school to become an Optometrist.
