Rap is the music Hip Hop is a culture

I can respect hip-hop music, simply because there's actual musical content in it.
The same cannot be said of me for Rap. It seems to me to be mere swearing to a rhythm. More specifically, it contains techno-sounding beats, and a rapper. That's essentially it. The lyrics themselves always seem to be about the same things:
*Kill 'dem whitey cops
*Bangin' hoes
*Whitey keepin' you down
*GREEEEELZ (or other forms of dripping excess)
*Tha Ghetto's hard to live in

I just can't appreciate Rap in most cases. There used to be exceptions, and there still are, but current Rap music is simply abysmal compared to its previous counterparts.

Yes I like both, as long as the songs aren't filthy (sex, degradation of women, drugs, violence, senseless cussing)
