My son has always enjoyed just being with me while I do things- when I'm doing laundry, for instance, I stick a sock on his hand to play with or gently rub different fabrics across his cheeks for him to feel. When I make dinner, I let him smell the ingredients I'm cooking with and describe what I'm doing as I do it. When I check the mail, I read it to him and talk about it, "Oh, here's an ad for cable TV! Mommy thinks it will rot our brains! Bye-bye advertisement!" He likes watching me fling the junk mail into the recycling stack, lol!
Walks are also good, at his age you may want a sling or frontpack to keep him close... although it makes the baby less obvious, which means you may get funny looks as you describe things to your son. My boy loves to feel and smell flowers, watch the neighbors' dogs, and feel the breeze on his face. He also enjoys my running commentary about the neighborhood, the direction we're going, or whatever else I want to talk about.
If you need to get OUT, good field trips for babies include the grocery store (lots of bright colors and interesting smells, esp. the bakery), the fabric store (lots of great textures and bright colors), the library (it's never too young), and art galleries (again, bright colors and shapes, and the chance to talk about them)

You can come over and do my laundry...haha. Seriously, what about a walk outdoors where you could socialize with other parents of small children? After dinner is a good time. Or you can spend time just "dancing" to classical or interesting, calm music. A baby massage is also good and soothing for a little one after a bath and before bed. Use a gentle lotion and carefully massage your baby's body. You can always put the baby down with some entertaining toys or in the same room you're in, but not directly with you. That way you could maybe do some other things like dishes or prepare a meal and you could just talk to the baby while you do it. Another thing you can do is maybe visit an older relative or an older neighbor. What joy they would have by watching or holding your little angel!

Congratulations hi,what you are doing is enough, try not to overstimulate the baby especially before bed time.he is only 31/2 mths just talk to him ,take him for walks, babies just love to be pushed around. He won`t be able to see much at this age but he will be able to listen.Rug play is very important that means letting him have a good kick on the floor and without a nappy.Babies love that.Singing to baby is very comforting and sing a lulaby before he sleeps. In a few months time he will be possibly rolling over and will want to play more with his toys.Just enjoy being with him ,give him lots of cuddles and just enjoy being a mum. It`s the best feeling in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard at that age! Take your baby for plenty of walks and let him look around outside at everything - that really seems to stimulate them. Tummy time with a toy in front of them is good, too. Soon he'll be rolling over and sitting up and it gets much easier to fill up the time. Enjoy!

my boy is now 17 month but he still loves splashy play as from day one and is a great way of getting him washed and clean ready for bed. he used to love a dark living room and dad shining coloured torch on the walls and ceiling.the first time he laughed is when i mimicked him! everything he did i copied and every noise he made i copied, it wasnt long before he realised what i was doing and he got the giggles big time! he may be a little young for band time but try it anyway, upturn every pot and plastic bowl and get armed with a wooded spoon! great fun.

Baby Einstein videos are awesome for that age and they can be interactive if you sing and name items in the video. Also, going for a walk with the stroller in the evening is nice.

Singing and action games like the "itsy-bitsy spider", "the wheels on the bus," etc. Also, if you support him, you can also start bouncing games like "the Duke of York" and "This is the way the Ladies Ride."

Do you have a rocking chair?
That is very soothing for you and baby.
And its a good way to settle baby down before bedtime.
