You may have to check if your state allows this change. The year of the 318 may have to be the same or newer as the truck.
Best bet is to get a complete unit from the 318 truck, Engine, transmission, all electronics and the brain (ECU). You may have to change the crossmember, too.

Why would you want to slow down the shifts 390 is faster than a 318 ratio and this also means the gears are much more rigid. Any particular reason you want to slow down the shifts?
