i think that your USB is disabled, you have to enable USB. for this follow this steps.

1. Right click on My Computer icon on your desktop
2. Go to properties
3. Now move to Hardware tab of System Properties window.
4. Press device manager button.
5. on the device manager window click Action Menu and select Scan for hardware changes.

This will find the USB devices.

If this not solve your problem then on the same window (Device Manager) in the tree view click on Universal Serial Bus Conrollers. expand this by clicking on the + sign (After click it converts to - sign) see all the entities if any one is marked with red color then right click on it and select Enable.

I hope your problem will resolved.

Open your "device manager" folder and see if you have any Yellow triangles with an ! mark in them. If so, see what the problem is and correct it. You need to look at the disc drive manager and the USB manager (or any yellow triangle that comes up).

Have you had your computer apart lately? Loose cables will cause the problems you describe. If you have not been rummaging around inside, it could be a power supply failure.

I recommend you have a comuter repair person look at it.
