its simple.........you need: msn messenger , internet and friends to chat with (all these are quite obvious).
go to start > All programs > windows messenger
there you will be asked for your .NET passport id and password..........which is basically your hotmail email id and password...........
after logging in you can add contacts by typing in the friend's hotmail id.

install messenger
start ur messenger(internet should be working)
add ur friends through add option

1. go to http://get.live.com/messenger/overview
2. click the "get free" button
3. Once you have it downloaded, add friends to your list.
4. Add me- scarlettmitchell@hotmail.com by going to "Add a friend" and put my email address in(scarlettmitchell@hotmail.com) and put my name as "Scarlett" 5. when you view me as "Online" double click my name and type a message! that easy!
