TFT panels save up to 40% of electricity consumption as compared to CRT monitors, TFT panels pay for themselves in energy savings. A typical 15" CRT monitor consumes 60~100Watts where a 15" TFT panel consumes 32Watts. This savings in energy is not limited to usage from the electrical outlet. Additional savings are found by the reduction in heat in a room which reduces air-conditioning energy consumption costs.

here are some good resources for energy calculations -

A Typical 19 inch CRT consumes about 100~150 Watts while a TFT only consumes about 75 Watts. That means it will consume about 525 Watts per day (7h). That means you will save more that 40% in your overall Monitor Energy Consumption. In addition to that, you can turn on Energy Save Technology to Turn off your monitor when the computer is not used...

Good Luck
