funeral? It seems like nearly everyday on the news when someone dies unexpectedly, especially violently that the family asks the public to send money to pay for the funeral.
What happened to taking care of your own family?

Is it like this all over the U.S.?

Yes, it's all over, no it's not just in the USA, it's in the world. I think what we've done is created monsters who think they can get something for nothing - because we did give them something for nothing...welfare, food, medical care, etc.

I adhere to the Work for Welfare line of thought. We have something here for disabled people called AISH. Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped. In theory it's great. For mentally handicapped, those who are seriously ill and so on. What happens is people get on to AISH and yet, they can stand in long line ups, waiting for concert tickets smoking cigarettes and complaining about the amount of their AISH cheques. I can't afford bloody concert tickets! Phone calls asking for donations to send kids to camp. I never went to camp and my kid didn't go to camp. My family worked and earned and paid our own way. No welfare. We had menial jobs, good jobs, two jobs...but we never were out of work.

What's wrong with this picture?

Have you seen what a funeral cost? If anyone I cared about died I would not have 1% of what it would cost to have a service and by a grave.

It is the funeral parlors fault and I'd rather help someone to pay one time for a funeral than donate to a charity for widows to support their lazy lives.

It's pretty much all over, sad to say. Likely perputated by the liberal "fund-raiser/ give from your kind heart" thing. Seems like every convenience store I land in, there's the huge pickle jar, asking for $$$$ to offset poor Joe's uninsured Cancer hospital stay and treatments......funreal's : I haven't seen many pleas for those.....yet.

When I see the pickle jar seeking donations to replace a three-year old girl's run-over Poodle named "Pookie", that's when I'll scream "enough of this bull sh*t!!!....and probably drive over emotion's edge.

That has never happened in my community. I've never had to pay for someone else's funeral.
