tell me what i should draw. i need to draw some thing for my college art class and i cant think of any thing. the instructor said to draw some thing that intrests me but i am not going to draw some war scene or martialrtists doing some thing. she also said to draw a scene from one of the stories i write sense writing is the only are i do , only problem with that is that i dont think she wants to see a scene of a girl getting attacked through the sight of a rifle with the cross hairs on the attacker. if this task is left up to me then i will never decide on any thing so just tell me what to draw and i will do it.

alter_ego_marie is the only one that said what i asked. so unless some one else comes in and says ehat i asked to be said then i will fallow her. i knew i should not have asked a bunch of artists about this. next time i go to a machanic who i know will just give me a stright answer, not the "do what makes you feel right" stuff.

If you try to think about what u want 2 draw true motivation will never come 2 you.
Just draw what u feel. Let ur imagination run wild and don't think about what anybody has to say about what ur mind thinks. If someone has a problem with it then they have a problem.

If your art offends people..then it is doing its job. If it evokes an emotional reaction, then you are creating something that moves beyond 'looking pretty'. Thats good. It means that as an artist you have a gift to create waves. Its better than somone going 'oh nice' or not even noticing it at all.

I would advise you to follow your desire to draw what you like..and to use art school as a chance to explore how you see the world. Try to pull links from your other interests, or things in your current life into the drawings. Art is about communication..and it isnt always just communicating what you SEE (in your imagination or in life) but the best art communicates what you THINK or best of all...FEEL.

Dont ever draw stuff because you think its what other people want you to draw. If you want to draw the girl getting attacted..ask yourself...why do want to draw that? who is this girl? what inspired me to think of this? what does it represent? what forces are at play? Is there any link to anything....and incorporate it into the peice. This will give it depth and meaning. Some might claim that violence is just that...for its own sake...but if you are interested it....use this as a chance to go deeper within yourself and find your individual voice as an artist

Good luck with your work!

Buy a bag of your favorite fast food and soft drink, open the wraps but leave the food on the wraps and lay it out on the table and draw it, then eat it. Call it "Art from the Restoration".

Open any drawer in your house, room, dorm room, and draw what's inside right where it lays (there might be one or two things you'd want to remove before you draw). Call it "Come Look in My Drawers".

Stack up some books at different angles, shine a study lamp on them so that they pick up interesting light and draw the books with the different values of light and shadow on them. Call it "Hopeless Syllabus".

If you don't want for people to judge your personality through your artwork then draw something neutral like the subjects above.

It is true that you should draw about something tha inspires you. And from experience you should not over analyze it. War is bloody but it is more about how you feel. Your emotions will come out in the drawing and lead to a masterpiece.

Just go ahead and do a war scence if that interests you. If the teacher does't like it then remind her that she put no restrictions and said to do a scene of something that interested you in a story.
