what does it mean to see a white owl at night? (more than once)?

not really superstitious but i am curious if there is any meaning behind this. i've seen a white owl flying over my car while i was driving at night several times.

Owls are the messengers of change, positive or negative. This is true of all spirit messengers. But whether they are coming as a messenger depends on the context of the appearance. Sometimes it is as simple as being in the right place at the right time. Since this has happen more than once, there is a good chance there is a message for you. And the variety of owl can mean different kinds of messages. For me, the appearance of the Great horned Owl has meant some one close will be passing. But the screech owl has meant healing change and the barred owl has meant great personal life path change with some painful, but necessary sacrifices. And these times Owl has come to me, it has been out of the 'norm'. Like in daytime hours or when one actually followed me, landing in a tree just ahead of where I was walking, then catching up again when I would get passed it. Meditate and keep your mind open.

Seeing an owl looking in your window, or seeing it during the day, was once believed to be a portent of death. But you saw the owl at night, and presumably not looking in your window, so you should be alright on that count.

There are also parts of northern England where any owl sighting was considered good luck.

In Roman myth, owls were witches transformed into animals. That belief spread through Europe in the Middle Ages.

Owls have been associated with good luck, bad luck, wisdom, death, prophecy, and more. Depends where you look and who you ask.

In your case, well, unless you are prone to believing ancient superstition, then you were simply fortunate enough to see an owl. But maybe it's more than that... it may be up to you to decide how much meaning that has in your life. I saw a number of hawks up close over a very short period, twice on the ground looking at me, and I tend to think there was more to it than chance. But I certainly can't prove it. :)

I have one that lives very close by, though I haven't figured out which tree yet. But I hear him all the time, sometimes at night and sometimes during the day. I'm pretty sure it's just an owl, not a soothsayer foretelling imminent doom for the neighborhood. :)

Some people who are supersticious would say it's an omen. However it's quite common to see owls at night since they are nocturnal hunters and often adopt a certain area as there home. So it is very common to see an owl in the same area over many different nights.

It's a superstition that some still beleive today that a owl seen 3 time near your home means death for someone in your family is near. Although I dont know know if it is a white owl or any color.

It could also be you are driving right through some good hunting grounds for it and you should be very careful, as owls are notorious for flying low enough to crash into your windshield. This could be very dangerous, for both of you. Drive a bit slower and enjoy your sitings.
