I personally think "Becks" is great. I'm starting to get pissed that everyone keeps on dissing him. He did score the one and only goal against ecuador. I mean seriously people, cut him some slack. He can't help that he's known all around the world. He's talented, and is a great player on the field and a great person off. He's a family man. Why can't everyone give him a break?

I think that any person who is that famous will invite jealousy and suspicion. They want to see the "mighty" fall and so watch their every move waiting to see the tiniest sign of flaw or humanity in someone revered as a god. I hope he just blows it off and just enjoys what he does because only then can he have a live fulfilled.

Well there are several reasons. One is that he is more involved in brand-building then soccer and there are other players better in game but with less attention. Experts of soccer have to evaluate a guy on his work in the field not on his charms n everything.
But while evaluating him on soccer, we should remember that he works hard and it pays off too. Just before taking the penalty against Ecuador, i remember the commentator saying "beckham is known to practice his shoot for hours". Something told me that this hardwork cant go unrewarded. And it did reward him and England with a place in Quarters. Had it not been Beckham's goal, England were certainly frustrated by Ecuador

Where do we start? I think the fact he's a metrosexual does not appeal to the lads day out type of football supporter. He doesn't do enough really to warrant his level of fame. Yes, he's arguable brlliant at dead ball situations but his creative abilities seemed quite limited than say a Zizou at his height.
Then there's the whole lame-o tattoos, putrid pop star wife (Has there been a more tuneless group on the planet than the Spice Girls?), the kids' names, the money...so it's a mixture of jealousy and the fact he is not really a Pele, Cruyff, Platini, Baggio, Maradona, Ronaldo, etc. in their prime. He's a very good player but no way would he be considered a "great" player in any era but this one (I mean, look at all the zeroes put up during this World Cup.,..it's a very very defensive era).

... yeah and also why is everyone always talking about
D. Beckham? He does not play great soccer. He is not one of the top 10 soccer players in the world. I think everyone should just stop dissing and praising him cause he ain't all that...

I wouldn't say anything negative about him. In the games I saw he made big impacts. I enjoy watching him play because you never know what he will do to change the game. I wish I could see more of his games after the World Cup. I am only recently a big Soccer fan. I would like to see England and Germany in the final.

People pick on anyone who is on top. Michael Jordan got picked on for his gambling. Barry Bonds, before the steroids, for his personality, and now Beckham. The problem with him was that he headed for Spain. He has the movies, he has the wife, but is he really the best. People get jealous. Would you rather have Ronaldhino or Beckham on your team?

I agree with santiur453. He is really good at soccer and should be recognized. Dude that guy is so brave throwing up and still scoring a goal.

No its because he's seen as more of a rock star than a soccer player, and they're are better players that doesn't get nearly as much attention as him.
