because there's a severe mental breakdown between their brains and their tongues

2006-06-26 17:02:38 · answer #1 · answered by revtraveler 2 · 0 0

There is no breakdown between my brain and my tongue. I know exactly what I'm saying, when I'm saying it, and WHY I'm saying it. I don't have any lack of vocabulary .. I was taking Junior year english my freshman year in college. It's got nothing to do with that at all.

I've noticed that a LOT of people from Milwaukee (where I was raised) have foul language. I've moved across the state, and you'd think I was in a different country. It was weird having to tone it down because everyone back home just let 'em rip. People from back home and I all agree that some things just can't be completely expressed without the F word in there.

Why do I swear so much? *shrug* Force of habit. I usually do my best to tone it down at work and around my stepmother-in-law, but when I'm at home, it's fair game. I do NOT believe in swearing at people over the phone (cable co, etc), swearing at restaurants (unless the only person that can hear you is right across the table), swearing in movies (drives me NUTS), etc.

I can't speak for other people, but I swear because it's a habit.

Edited to add: Humberto, what are you talking about? How can you judge people's lives by the fact that they swear? I don't make fun of people that can't speak english well, and I don't judge people that mention God in every conversation. It's one thing if someone says 'damn'. It's another thing entirely if they are spewing about races, etc.

Just because I say "sh*t" ten times a day doesn't mean that I'm disturbed. Wow.

Sincerely, Aussie Mommy on judging.

Its the lack of a good vocabulary, they cant think of the right word to use, in some particular, usually a stressful situation.
I swore all the time in the Army, it was usual for us to swear like troopers, and that we did. But on returning to civlilian life, that didn't work as well.
I heard the statement I made, about vocaburary, and made up my mind to do more reading and studing and increased my word usage.
I hardly ever sweat now, well except for that hammer on my thumb part. That will never change, we need swear words for those situations, or when some idiot cuts in front of us. They serve a good purpose then, for letting off steam.

Dear girlfriend: People speak what is in their heart. It can be hurt, anger, happiness, hunger, etc.
Those who swear come from disturbed backgrounds and carry a heavy load with them although they may appear friendly and composed on the surface. What is in their hearts manifests itself everytime they open their mouths. Those who are a blessing, bless. Those who are a curse, curse. Don't spend too much time with these people or you may soil your soul with their filth. In God's eyes, you are too precious for that.
Sincerely,
Mr. M. on swearing.

In my opinion, people cuss a lot because it seems to let out more anger than when you keep it clean. I don't know how but it does. It's like when something ironically goes wrong, like a woman breaking her nail right after she just paid $50.00 for them, she would want to sat something like "S**t", but if instead she restraints herself from releasing all her anger and only says "shoot", then it's like she's holding herself back, and when you get mad, you don't fell like being good. It's just the way it goes.
