I have been considering keeping a hissing cockroach as a pet. However, while I was reasearching proper care for them I found a thing online about them being illegal in Florida. I know that Florida has a rather large population of cockroaches, but the madagascar hissing cockroach isn't considered to be house dwelling pest like many other species.

I am not planning on getting a breeding pair, I only want like three males.
Do I have to get a permit for them, or is it just the seller that requires a permit to sell cockroaches to Florida?

If you can give me any information it will be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you for your time and patience.

You must be sick.
Cockroaches are vermin. They are nasty. They are dirty. Why don't you just go buy yourself a pretty little cockroach broach and affix it to your shirt. You'll be the envy of all your friends. Ugh. That's nasty.

Um, it's probably not illegal, but why on earth would anyone want cockroaches as pets? People get paid big bucks to kill them.
