On Friday evening my 2 year old who has trouble running because of toes pointing inward hit her head on the deck stairs after falling. She hit the middle of her forehead. There is a tiny cut, and the top of her nose was swollen between her eyebrows. Sunday afternoon I noticed her eyes were turning black. Today they have been getting blacker. She seems fine but has been lying down and complaining of an Owey on her head, she has also been pointing to her eyes. She isn't eating much either. Has anyone seen similar symtoms. My family thinks I am very overprotective, they think I bring my children to the doctor for everything so I am hesitant to bring her.

You need to bring her to the doctor, no matter your family says. Blackness in the skin is an indicator of some kind of blood activity. the doctor can determine if it is serious (such as internal bleeding) espeically since her only outward bleeding was a small cut. Loss of appetite also shows that something is amiss. Watch her carefully between now and then and monitor her sleepign patterns. You may choose to have her in the same room as you to make this easier to do. (Suggest checking every four hours.)

Take her in. At the very least she has a broken nose. At worse you're sitting on a possible head injury (I'm leaning more towards the head injury scenareo). Is she feeling sleepy or not as active as normal? Does she feel like she needs to throw up (stomach feels icky) If so those are signs of a head injury as well. Get her to the ER as soon as possible. I use to work on an ambulance and have seen these types of injuries.

With regards to your familyTo hell with what they think. You're her mom and not them. If they think they can do a better job raising her let them take a crack at it. I bet they'll back off.

Usually when you hit your nose you do end up with two black eyes. I would be concerned tho that it is affecting her that much. My son had his fair share of whacks to the head and cuts on the forehead but it never slowed him down.
When it comes to your babies there is no over reacting. Take her to the hospital if thats what you wanna do. If my son would have reacted like this 3 days after a fall I would have taken him.

Just the bruising moving under the skin, it is normal to get black eyes from an injury between the eyes or forehead, the black will go away in about a week. Just like a normal bruise.

i would at least call the doctor, and explain the circumstance, and see what he wants you to do. Most head injuries should be seen by a doctor, especially in smaller children. I would be prepared for the doctor to make a call to CPD, I know in the hospital if a small child comes in with a head injury they call CPS just to make sure everything is ok in the home. Not to scare, just forewarning you.

bring her! You can't be over too protective if you're noticing behavioral changes. I know if you get hit between the eyes you end up with two black eyes. They take a while to come out...but you shoiuld just in case. Kids heal up pretty good though.
WOW Do not listen to that lady saying it's internal this and that!!! You get two black eyes when you're hit in between the eyebrows!! she will be fine!!

she will live.

only time you really really need to worry about a head injury is if instead of a bump she has a dent. black eyes happen.

Good lord, i cant believe all the people telling this women to run her child into the ER. this is just ridiculous

I am so sorry for your loss. My best friends 17 year old sister passed away about a month ago and they played "In the Arms of an Angel" at her funeral. I hope you find the perfect song.

Perhaps you should trust your gut feeling and take her to the EMERGENCY ROOM.

She could of had a very serious concussion as her skull is still very soft for her age.

I would suggest getting offline and taking care of your little girl before it turns into something more serious.

You should take her to the doctor soon......you dont know what kind of internal injuries she suffered. I'm no doctor, but if it's been 3 days and she still hurts, and is tired.....I wouldnt waste any time, I'd take her immediately.
