I have a Dell E1505 with an S-Video Out, I'm using Windows XP. Is it possible to watch TV on my laptop? Can I just hook up an S-video cable or do I need a special box?

S Video Out is for your DVD Player..to go out to a TV so you can use your laptop as a DVD Player. SLINGBOX attaches to your TV and then sends your TV over the internet...you can change channels and watch whatever you have at home over the web.
Most Laptops DO NOT have a TUNER BUILT IN...or have the space for the upgrade..you may be able to find a USB TUNER
that will allow you to RUN CABLE COAX in and then to your Laptop...Other than that...ITS YOU TUBE..LOL

On a laptop you can use a TV Tuner like this ATI model

There are others as well but this is one I knew of off the top of my head. I have a different model of TV tuner for my desktop but the concept is still the same.

you need the addapter box, you cant connect teh cable line direct to the comp!!
