why is it that EVERY non-smoker insists on informing EVERY smoker, how unhealthy smoking is.like we dont know?

"oh my god, while smoking for 10 years, i never knew it causes emphasima, lung cancer, cervical cancer, heart disease, respitory diseases and the smell is repulsive. thank you, thank you very much for informing me, i think i will quit immediatly!" i suppose this is the response non-smokers are looking for!

its self-righteous nonsense, very similar to the religious people who think its theyre duty to tell you something you already know and dont care about....i think they are so consumed with arrogance that they made the "right" decision they have to share it with the world and let you know how wrong you are and how right they are.

I am a smoker so don't take my opening the wrong way....

Because it's stupid. You know it's stupid. Sometimes it's also justified as when you smoke in a crowded area not designated for smokers.

But, also because it's socially acceptable now to alienate smokers. If you complain to someone about smoking (not in a situation that effect your personally) then your a hypocrite. Don't think so? Then next time you see a friend of yours who is over weight eating anything unhealthy you have to tell them about it. At length. Because heart disease kills far far more people then lung cancer.

So if your so concerned for our health then start with overweight people. Tell them after every fatty food that they are killing themselves. You won't will you? Because it makes you look insensitive. But when you give a smoker crap it makes you feel correct and righteous so it's ok.

Overeating, like smoking, is a life-style choice. And yet in one instance it's ok to criticize and in another it isn't

Oh, and my apolagies to the few of you who insult both smokers and over eaters equally. Your not hypocrites... just insulting.

I am a smoker also, but I believe that everyone has there own reasons. People that know you are worried about you and they hope that by telling you the stuff you already know it will finally sink in, they just don't know any other way to "help" you. Some people can smell it and are worried about there own health by way of second hand smoke and not wanting to be rude and telling you to put it out or go somewhere else, they tell you what you already know and hope that you will realize that they would prefer it if you did not smoke near them. Some people don't want there children to start so they tell you so that they are also telling there children. Some (slow) people don't realize that you have already heard it. And some people are just rude.

I have never done it but I have been tempted when some selfish smoker sits near me in a cafe. I am entitled to enjoy my coffee (or anything else for that matter) without having to put up with the stinking smoke from someone else's cigarette. I have made the choice not to smoke. I have the right not to have your bad habit forced on me.

I always wanted to stand next to the smoker in the coffee shop and fart, long loud and smelly. Would that be offensive to you?

Not every non-smoker does that.

People in my family smoke everything from cigarettes to weed and honestly, I could care less. They know and understand full well what their doing, so why throw it in their face? It's not my problem.
