No, Your check engine lite can come on for a number of reasons! A bad sensor of some type whether it be emissions related, cooling system related, ignition and fuel system related, etc. If cars do have a transmission problem,a code is set also and the transmission control module will work in correlation with the engine computer and set the trans code, If a transmission code is set,it is usually caused by a bad input or output speed sensor or a shift solenoid or even a transmission fluid temperature sensor or a transmission gear selector(this also is where the neutral safety switch is mounted on the transmission or transaxle). The only way your going to find out why the check engine lite is on is if you know someone or have a mechanic that you trust hook a code scanner up to the data link connector under the drivers part of the dashboard. 99% of the time it is usually a sensor that has gone bad somewhere and needs to be replaced. You might think, now how can a woman know all this, Simple! My Hubby is an automotive technician and I ask him questions on what would caused the problem and how to correct it!!!

Auto Zone does not check it for you, they will give you a small key that plugs into your computer along with a book of codes to go with it. You put the key in and turn the ignition switch over, but not starting the car, if the check egine light blinks 2 times then pauses and then 2 more times thats a 22= mass airflow sensor, etc.......Buttttttttttt last time i checked that only works for gm motors. The best thing i can tell you is take the car to the ford house they will only charge you 45 bucks to find out whats wrong with it, thennnnnnnnnnnn Do not under any circumstances let them fix it they will definently over charge you just get them to tell you whats wrong then get your own part and hire a good cheap machanic to do it. Anyways hope this helps. Good luck

Most likely not. Many cars are programmed to do that when it's time for an oil change or tune up. Could also be the EGR valve. Take it to an Auto Zone and have them check it. They will get a code that tells you the problem. this is usually free.

will be clogged injectors or an emission component o2 sensor. yet are you dropping water out of your exhaust? which will be a head or intake manifold difficulty. a lot extra expensive. attempt injector purifier, should be used in any case! examine it lower back, sounds like a misfire for optimistic and your sensor will come around the slightest of misfires. track up. plugs wires etc. a minimum of verify and note in case your plugs are good and sparkling on each and each cylinder. peace!
