I was amazed at the news a couple of weeks ago that they are to start making and selling standard, clean deisel in the US. I thought the whole idea of deisel, and requiring that truck companies use some percentage of deisel was because deisel was 80% cleaner burning than gasoline. I guess I've been a victim of disinformation and marketing, and phony environmental policy. I would never now buy a deisel, because I'll know where every cent of profit will be going-the same con men that sold me the idea that the deisel engines were state of the art low-emissions.

lots of differences, diesel is much cheaper to manufactur. very stable at low temps but volitle at high temps. Gas needs a spark plug to ignite the fuel mixture but diesel doesn't. It just burns from the temp rise during compression. diesel engines tend to last much longer than gas engines and get better fuel economy. diesel also tends to create a lot of torque which is ideal for pulling heavy loads.

a gasoline engine uses spark plugs to ignite the gas and air mixture to start the internal combustion, a diesel engine uses compression of diesel and air mixture to ignite them for internal combustion, gas engines run hotter, diesel engines make more torque, gas engines run quieter, diesel engines usually get better economy.Diesel engines don';t use spark plugs, but most of them do have "glow plugs" which aid in starting the engine in very cold weather.

diesel fuel is not cheaper!!!!it is more efficient but cost more to maintain when something breaks.get a vehicle that is good on gas or a hybrid.also you ge more torque from newer engines than gas but the fuel mileage sux.

In my opinion, neither, but if I must- I'd pick regular because of the lesser amount of noise pollution.
