i asked the same question a while ago and this is what one of the people told me:
'I'd love to just show you...but you are there and I am here so I'll try. Use a dark liner on the bottom. Try a dark liner on top ONLY IF it doesn't look to "drawn on". You don't want to look made-up! Then use a really dark brown shadow up towards your brow a bit more than normal. Its only eyeshadow so play! It all washes off huh? So take an evening in front of the TV and try all sorts of litle things. Run the very tiny tip of the eyeshadow applicator and run a small bit of shadow along the bottom of your eye. Apply mascara beginning with the hair at the roots, apply just a small bit///let it dry. Now brush on a bit more mascara concentrating on the middle of the lashes to the tips....let that dry. Now apply a thrid application just to the tips of your eyes. Your lashes will stand out a bit more than when you just apply one coat! It take practice but you CAN do it. Pracice ok? Play! No one's watching!
Then add a small jewel at the far edge of your eye (part by your temple) that looks "exotic". Buy the jewels with adhesive for finger nails! Place one on the edge of your eye-the men love it! So you go girlfriend-play away, practice makes perfect. You could always go to the large department store and have them show you but they want you to BUY, and are way too expensive.'

1. Start by dusting the whole top lid with a neutral-toned shadow---one that is your natural skin tone but just a touch brighter.
2. Take a taupe shadow and apply a bit of it in the middle of the upper eyelid. Blend it up and outward so you can see the color just above the crease and at the outer corners.
3. Take a cotton swab and draw a line of the taupe eye shadow all along the lower lash line, blending it a little bit along the way so there are no harsh lines.
4. Use a cotton swab to smudge a line of dark brown eye shadow on the outer third of the top eyelid.
5. Line the lower eyelid with dark brown eyeliner. Smudge the line with a clean cotton swab.
6. Apply one coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes.

What you need to do is apply your shadow first. Pick a color that comes in three shades, from dark to light. First apply the lightest color all over from brow to lid and blend. Then apply the second darkest to only your lid, of course blend. Apply the darkest shade to only the creases of your eyes, blend it very well. Sweep it with powder to set it! Now apply your liner to the bottom of your eye, a good place to start is the center, measure by starting parallel to your pupil. Follow your lash line to the outer corner of your eye, take a Q-tip and smear back and forth to create that smokey line. Now if you want more drama, apply liner to the top lash line and do the same but with the shadow and bottom liner you should get the look you want. Apply your mascara and admire your work! Remember if you do a dark eye never do dark cheek bones, or dramatic lips.
